More Praise for the Book!

Helen is an extraordinary lady, and I've had
the pleasure of being at multiple conferences with her. But her story goes beyond simply being the 1st woman President.
But...that's not my story to tell; it is hers. So...do yourself a favor. Get a copy of Helen's book, read it and
share it, because it is a story that deserves being shared.

World Champion of Public Speaking

What a marvelous story. Well written
with attention to detail which is your trademark. Every paragraph was a
new discovery. This was a story that needed to be told. I like the bits of humor that were sprinkled throughout.
This was your Ice Breaker, revelation and dedication. It is an inspiration to
Toastmasters and anyone else who
courts excellence.
Jim Tucker, DTM, Three-time
World Champion of Public Speaking Finalist

Breaking the Ice is just excellent.
Even though I knew the story, it continued to pull me in. A superb job of getting everything in and strung together
so well that it demands to be read. Bob would have loved it. And for me a wonderful trip down memory lane: the
Center and Toastmasters — and it gradually becoming easier for us all to go in the direction we wished, as women
like Helen quietly helped to pave the rutted dirt road. Though her road did lead a considerable bit further than
many of us might have had the courage to even dare.

Helen, I read your book - word for word, page by page - WOW! You are such an inspiration to me and I know to every
woman, especially in our wonderful organization. I pray your book which made me laugh and cry continues to touch
many lives.

I couldn't put the book down, and lost all track of time. I am SO inspired by your story. I guess I only knew bits
and pieces before. Your rise in government service is inspiring in itself, and combined with your rise through
the Toastmaster ranks, it's quite an impressive journey.

Helen Blanchard’s rise from a Midwest school teacher to President of an international nonprofit organization is
the story of a true trailblazer. Joining Toastmasters International under an assumed male name in a time when women
were not welcome, she earned the respect of her fellow members, then rose to lead the organization and shepherd
it into a new era of equality.
